The Rhos Orpheus Male Choir
The choir was formed in 1957 and last year celebrated its 65th birthday. In that time, the choir has delighted audiences not only in the UK, but also worldwide including Ireland, Germany, the USA, Canada, Israel, Hong Kong and China.
The choir has performed with solo artists including Sir Bryn Terfel and Sir Geraint Evans and has a strong relationship with the Band of HM Welsh Guards. In 2022 the Orpheus was the official choir for Wrexham’s bid for City of culture and sang for the King and Queen to celebrate Wrexham gaining city status.
The Musical Director of the Orpheus, Eifion Wyn Jones, has reaffirmed its reputation as one of the finest male voice choirs in Wales through an extensive range of music including Welsh favourites, opera choruses, songs from the shows and some surprises! The choir has a long and proud history of raising money for charity including among others, the RNLI, Beating Bowel Cancer, the British Heart Foundation and Tenovus. charity. In 2022, the choir organised and performed in a Concert for Ukraine which raised over £4,000 for humanitarian causes in Ukraine, then in June 2023, we performed in a joint concert with the London Welsh Rugby Club Choir at Llay which raised over £2500 for the charity YourSpace
